1. The 20 candidates who ran for 12 seats on the Borough Assembly and Fairbanks and North Pole city councils spent a total of about $300,000 during the election. But the biggest spenders didn’t win every race.
2. Alaska Congressman Nick Begich has a new challenger. It’s Pastor Matt Schultz of First Presbyterian Church in Anchorage, who launched his campaign Monday.
3. Ana Hoffman of Bethel stepped down as Co-Chair of the Alaska Federation of Natives over the weekend. She passed the torch to Gayla Hoseth, an AFN board member from the Bristol Bay region.
4. Ten women will be inducted into the Alaska Women’s Hall of Fame tonight. The include Alaska Native journalist Joaqlin Estus, and Sue Sheriff, of Fairbanks, a librarian and literacy advocate.
